Getting Focus (finally!)

Some dreams take a loooooong time to come true…

Like when you’ve worn glasses (or contact lenses) since elementary school - and you’ve yearned to be free of those (necessary but wearisome) hassle-makers.

From my Dad, I inherited a robust case of near-sightedness. Over decades, this led to an endless parade of eye doctor appointments, lens upgrades, fittings, cleanings, and losing expensive eye stuff -many of you understand the hassles.

(for several reasons, I had reservations about the LASIK procedure, and never did pull that trigger).

Myopia meant that, without some kind of corrective lenses, I simply had no ability to focus beyond, say, about 6 inches in front of my face. Without a clarity correction, everything was a blur.

But recently, not surprisingly at my advanced age, I was diagnosed with a cataract problem. And the updated option is to implant a brand new lens right into my eye with my corrective prescription built-in.

I was never so happy to receive a diagnosis of a medical issue! Or to have some doctor monkeying with my eyeballs.

(Actually, I’ve only had the first eye done; the second lens is due to be replaced in a couple of weeks. But already, I’m experiencing clarity of vision and sharpness of focus as never before.)

So…here is my new look, as of this week. Yay! No more specs (well, except for closer-up work).

This morning, as I was walking my dog, I kept closing one eye or the other, comparing the clear focus (right eye) to the immense blur (left eye). The difference was amazing. The feeling of happiness, just being able to see the world around me clearly, is awesome

Bottom line: clear is way better than blurry!

And, yes, if you think there is an analogy here, of course, you’re right.

The new look of clarity!

What’s true in physical vision is also true in life direction. No-one prospers in the fog. No-one does well in a blur. Confusion is not a best practice in life or in business.

Yet so many are very unclear about their purpose, their direction, their strengths, their best avenue for professional success.

Getting to clarity of focus should be the top priority for every individual, every team, every organization, every brand.

When you can answer the following questions with 20/20 crystal clarity, you have the #1 key to success:

  1. Who am I/are we? (Identity)

  2. What am I/are we seeking to accomplish? (Purpose)

  3. Who are we serving? (Audience)

  4. What is my/our Superpower? (Offering)

The greatest privilege and purpose of my life is to help others gain clarity, and then to put their message into simple, clear, compelling words that get right to the point.

Gaining clarity is a win-win - your joy is my joy.

How can I help you get to 20/20?
